Brand identity and communication
People first get to know an organization through its name, its logo and the first sentence they read. When these don’t match, the organization looks smaller, more scattered or less trustworthy than it is.
First what you say, then how you look
We learn what your organization does, who it wants to reach and how it wants to be understood. We set the core message and tone of voice on that basis, and build the visual identity on top of that message. Finally, we plan how each message will appear on each channel.
Who is it for?
New businesses creating an identity for the first time, organizations whose logo and message have drifted apart over the years, companies that struggle to explain what they do in one sentence, and those launching a new product or service.
What do we prepare?
- Research into your organization and audience
- Positioning and core message
- Logo and visual identity
- Colors, typefaces and brand guidelines
- Business cards, letterhead and presentation templates
- Social media visual templates
- Website and promotional copy
- Tone of voice and writing guidelines
- Channel plan: which message goes on which channel
- Delivery files and handover
How is consistency kept?
An identity isn’t just a logo; it has to stay the same every time your team prepares a new presentation, ad or post. Brand guidelines and ready-made templates let someone who isn’t a designer produce work that looks right too.
A ready-made template or a custom identity?
For small businesses just starting out, a simple identity adapted from ready-made templates is often enough. You get started quickly, and the initial cost stays low.
If you need to stand out from your competitors, or speak in the same voice across many channels for a long time, a custom-designed identity is the better choice. We look at which one suits you together, before you decide.
What affects the price?
The price depends on whether the identity is designed from scratch or refreshed, the number of materials to prepare, the scope of the messaging and copy work, and the number of channels. Once we’ve talked about what you need, we send a quote with a clear scope.
Frequently asked questions
Can we get just a logo?
Yes. But if it isn’t clear where and how the logo will be used, it soon starts appearing in different forms. That’s why we recommend preparing at least basic brand guidelines along with the logo.
Do we have to change our current logo?
No. We look at your current identity first. Often it’s enough to keep the logo, refine it and tidy up how it’s used. If a redesign is needed, we talk through the reasons together.
How does the process work?
First we listen to you about your organization and the audience you want to reach. Then comes a proposal for the message and direction, followed by visual identity drafts. We make revisions to the chosen direction and deliver the final files.
How many drafts do we see, and how many revisions do we get?
We state the number of drafts and revisions in the quote from the start. That way, both sides know where the process ends.
Which files do we receive at delivery?
The logo in the formats needed for print and digital use, color codes, typeface details, the brand guidelines and the templates in scope. The source files are handed over to you too.
Who holds the usage rights to the designs?
Once payment is complete, the usage rights to the delivered designs pass to your organization. We put this in the contract.
Do you handle trademark registration?
No. For the registration application, we recommend working with a trademark attorney. It’s a good idea to search for similar trademarks before applying.
Will you manage our social media accounts?
This service covers the identity, message, templates and channel plan. Ongoing account management is a separate job; if you need it, we discuss it separately.
Can our team use the templates themselves?
Yes, that’s the goal. We prepare the templates in the programs your team uses and show how to use them.
Do you build our website too?
Yes. If the new identity is being prepared together with a website, planning both together gives a more consistent result.
How long does it take?
It depends on the scope. We share a clear timeline with the quote.
